Dr Md Samiullah (Sami) is an Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), where he has been contributing to Vaccine Safety Surveillance since September 2022. His work integrates advanced data analytics, Bayesian modelling, and machine learning to support the monitoring and evaluation of vaccine safety and effectiveness.
Dr Samiullah completed his PhD in Computer Science from Monash University (Faculty of Information Technology) in 2020, where his doctoral research focused on Bayesian Network modelling and its applications in complex data-driven systems. His expertise spans data mining, machine learning, deep learning, wireless body sensor networks, and Bayesian network analysis, with a strong focus on applying computational intelligence to real-world health and safety challenges.
Before joining Monash University and MCRI, Dr Samiullah served at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, as a Lecturer (2013–2020) and subsequently as an Assistant Professor (2020–2022) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Over nearly a decade in academia, he supervised approximately 20 undergraduate and 16 master’s research projects, fostering innovation and research excellence among emerging computer scientists.
With a background that bridges computer science, health informatics, and data-driven public health research, Dr Samiullah is passionate about mentoring students in computational modelling, artificial intelligence, and data science applications in health domains. He welcomes supervision opportunities for higher degree research students interested in AI-driven healthcare analytics, Bayesian modelling, and machine learning for biomedical data.
