Yuan-Fang is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DS+AI), Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. Yuan-Fang's research interests include knowledge graphs, natural language processing, knowledge representation & reasoning, representation learning (embedding) of networks/graphs. He has published more than 100 papers in leading conferences and journals. He is on the program committee of top AI/NLP conferences including AAAI, IJCAI, ACL, EMNLP, and serves as a reviewer for premier journals including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE), IEEE Transactions on Cybernatics, and Pattern Recognition (PR). Some of the research problems he works on include:
- Automated (knowledge) graph construction from unstructured data (e.g. text & images): event/relation extraction & scene graph generation
- Structural & temporal learning from graph data
- Complex question answering and generation over knowledge graphs and text
