Ling is a research fellow at Action Lab, Department of Human-Centred Computing.
Her research explores the implications of technology on the social-emotional learning and development of children and young people in the contexts of developmental science, education, psychology and human computer interaction. Her methodological interest is on how the design process can synthesise theoretical and empirical evidence and practical considerations while enabling technology to support and enhance the social emotional learning of the developing young. Ling's current work involves using specially designed games to enhance empathy development of young children and support parents to safeguard their adolescents’ mental wellbeing. Her key aim is to create learning ecologies that bring together technology and technology-mediated means that leverage the existing expertise of parents, carers, educators and the broader community to enhance children and young people’s learning, development and wellbeing.
