Dr Charith Jayasekara is a Lecturer (Education Focused) in the Department of Human-Centred Computing at the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash and a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna.

Charith’s research focuses on computing education, particularly the design and evaluation of authentic assessments, the use of generative AI in learning, and the promotion of equity, diversity and inclusion in digital teaching environments. He is also involved in interdisciplinary work in quantum computing, with an emphasis on algorithm and simulation development for emerging quantum classical hybrid systems.

His teaching covers foundational and advanced computing units including Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks and Distributed Computing, where he has served as Chief Examiner and Lead Lecturer.

A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Senior Member of IEEE, Certified Professional Member of the Australian Computer Society and Professional Member of Engineers Australia, Charith brings a combination of educational leadership and technical depth to his role as a supervisor.
