Mohammad is a Lecturer (i.e., to Assistant Professor) in the Department of Software Systems and Cybersecurity at Monash University. His research is centered on developing advanced solutions for large-scale distributed systems, with a particular focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud/Fog/Edge Computing, Applied Machine Learning, and Applied Security. Before joining Monash, Mohammad was a Senior Research Associate at UNSW Sydney and Cybersecurity CRC, where he collaborated with Cisco on a joint project. He earned his PhD in 2022 from the University of Melbourne’s Department of Computing and Information Systems. In 2024, Mohammad was selected as one of the top 200 young computer science and mathematics scientists by the prestigious Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). His achievements have also earned him several notable awards, including Oracle’s Cloud Architect of the Year Award 2022, the IEEE TCCLD Outstanding PhD Thesis Award 2022, the IEEE TCSC Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award 2022, and the IEEE Outstanding Service Award 2021. His research has been featured in major media outlets such as the Australian Financial Review (AFR).
